Computer Science and Mathematics Seminar (1 credit hour each)

COURSE DESCRIPTION: Weekly meetings are conducted during which topics are discussed and students relate their experiences
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
A. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
By attending this course, the students will be exposed to different
area of Computer Sciences. They will improve their ability to conduct
research and present good reports.
The students will learn the history of computer development and the
contributions of various people especially those from under represented
groups and diverse cultures.
B. GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
As an outcome of the Teacher as Facilitator Model, the graduating student will be effective teachers in the following six areas:
1. Demonstrated proficiency in subject matter.
2. Communicates effectively with students, parents, and community
3. Displays professionalism in all aspects of teaching
4. Represents multicultural and global perspectives
5. Utilizes technology in all aspects of teaching
6. Utilizes effective teaching and learning strategies.
Students registered for the Math Seminar should submit two reports:
1. On Historic African American Mathematicians
2. A project report

CLASS MEETINGS: The class meets on Wednesdays from 2:00 to 2:50 in GOH 116
CLASSROOM PROCEDURES:
The class time will be devoted to lectures, group discussions, and student presentations.
