Preparing Electronic Folders and Files for Accessibility for Website Design

Focus will include the arrangement and assembly of files and directories in a website folder.  
Topics include: HTM file and its conversion from Word file, file link (hyperlink), absolute and relative address concept, 
and webpage design for class announcement and file download.

V. Tools to create a web-page: 

  1. Use Microsoft Word and save the Word file as a webpage.
  2. Use FrontPage.  Microsoft FrontPage has since been replaced by Microsoft Expression Web and Sharepoint Designer, which were released in December 2006.
  3. Write HTML code on Notepad and save the file with a file extension htm or html and with "Save as type" set to All Files.
  4. Convert a WORD file to a PDF file by PRIMOPDF software. - a free software

VI. Basic Typing Concept in FrontPage:

  1. Paragraph Break:  hit ENTER key.  You will have an empty space line.
  2. Line Break:  Shift + ENTER.

VII. Using a table to line up items:

  1. You can format a table with invisible edges.
  2. You can resize a table or a cell.

VIII. Inserting a picture

IX. Hyperlink:

  1. Link to Other Site.
  2. Link to Your Own Files
  3. Relative Address vs. Absolute Address
  4. Change a Link

X. Examples:  create the following files.

  1. index file  (Home Page for your site)
  2. courseHome file for each course (The first page of each course)
  3. outline file for each course
  4. schedule file
  5. Convert your syllabus word files to webpage files (html files).
