Word Processing with Microsoft Word
1. Typing text:
         Word Wrap:
Do not press the enter key at the end of a line. The word processor automatically wraps text from one line to the next line.
        Hard return
User hits the enter key at the end of a paragraph. The symbol,  will be marked there for ever and nothing can be placed after that symbol in the same line.

        Double-Spaced Lines:

Do not use hard returns for double-spaced lines.  It will create troubles for inserting or deleting any sentences later.  The way to do is followed:
(1)  Click on Format in the menu bar.
(2)  Choose Paragraph under the Format.
(3)  Choose double under Line spacing of the following window and click OK.
         Center of a line:
 
Use the following icon to center a title of a document.
         
        Word Size, Boldface, Italics, Underline and Color:
 
         Number, Bullet, decrease or increse the indent:
 

Example:
       Type the following document by bullets:  Click here to see format.
       The computer system involves two parts:
              1. Hardware:  Machine itself.
                   a.  Input Device:  Keyboard, Mouse, Bar code reader.
                   b.  CPU:  Central Process Unit.
                   c.  Storages:
                       - Primary Storage:  Memory
                       - Secondary Storage:  Disks
                   d.  Output Device:  Printer, Monitor
              2.  Software:  Programs telling computers what to do.
                   a.  Operating Systems:  Windows XP, 2000, 98, NT,...etc.
                   b.  Application Softwares:  Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint,...etc.
         Right Tab Marker, Left Tab Marker, Center Marker:
 
         First Line Indent, Hanging Indent, Left Indent.  (How to break them)
 

2. Clipboard concept:
        a. A clipboard is a part of memory used to hold some text temporarily.

        b. Cut, Copy and Paste: 
            

After you select some text, you may choose COPY or CUT commands to send text to clipboard. The COPY command will duplicate a copy of text to the clipboard whereas the CUT command will send text to the clipboard and erase from current work sheet.

        c. When a clipboard holds any information, you can paste it to anywhere else even in the different documents.
        d. Some word processors let the clipboard hold information until new one coming. 
            Others may erase it once you paste to somewhere.

3. Checking spelling:
        a. Type the following paragraph to learn the way to check your spelling:
 

A spelling checker will catch embarassing mistakes, iRegular capitalization, and duplicate words words.
        
        b. Use right click to get suggestion and correct them.
        c. Type the following paragraph to learn the way to check your spelling.
 
 It will also flag proper nouns, for example, Robert Grauer, but you can add these terms to an auxiliary dictionary so that they will not be flagged in the future.
    
        d. AutoCorrect Example:
                Use LOC to type LeMoyne-Owen College.
                        1. Goto Tools|AutoCorrect...
                        2. Make sure you are on the AutoCorrect tab.
                        3. In the middle of the box, there should be two white boxes. 
                            Type LOC in the Replace box and LeMoyne-Owen College in the With box.
                        4. Click the Add button.
                        5. Click the OK button.
 
Now, whenever you type the word LOC, the word processor will automatically change it to LeMoyne-Owen College.
